The 52 Weeks Project - Week 9

Week 9 is live with my first ever spoken word piece!

43 weeks to go on this journey! Life is still a bit in chaos, but like with everything it's a work-in-progress!

I can't wait until things settle into place and I can go back to making multiple angles and things. Ah, the life of a self-produced artist. Before I knew the term "spoken word," I was writing this style and in this voice inspired by my time doing improv and being a journalist.

It's why my words tend to be a bit more down to earth, and more about the examination of deep concepts and themes than trying to impress people lyrically. This first piece, for instance, is an examination of the word "amen" - a term I'd heard my entire life, as I was growing up Catholic, but I never got a clear definition from others about what this prayer-ender actually meant. The reality is: there are many religions and cultures with a very similar phrase to "so it shall be", and like it says in the poem - it's less of a magical phrase and more of an affirmation.
